Kristeena is the Creative Director and Co-Producer of Talk Up Radio, Jamaica’s only youth-led radio show. Since 2014, Kristeena has led Talk Up Radio, with the support of Emprezz Golding, Talk Up Radio’s founder and Executive Producer, Co-Producer Andrica Rigg and a growing team of amazing youth. Furthermore she played an instrumental role in the conceptualization, and initial design of the programme and has since then, coordinated and led the development of Talk Up Radio’s team, content, and innovative projects.

Over the last four years, and 192 episodes Talk Up Radio given a mainstream media platform to over 300 local youth advocates, creatives, social entrepreneurs, grassroots community groups, young and senior politicians, business leaders and civil society organizations doing positive work in advancing each and every sustainable development goal and examining issues affecting young people. 

Two of their best types of episodes include their investigative features on social issues including gentrification, corruption and human trafficking and their collaborative conversations where they invite government ministers to join them in studio and answer the questions collected from young Jamaicans via social media.

 
 

Under her leadership Talk Up Radio has also executed a major youth empowerment and community development project in Kingston with their parent organization, funded by the Digicel Foundation and the NCB Foundation. The Talk Up Radio team is also expanding globally, developing relationships with young people around the Caribbean and in more than 10 countries worldwide including China, Nigeria, the UK, Pakistan and Lebanon.

 
 

Kristeena is guiding Talk Up Radio’s Development to scale up their core functions which are:

  1. Creating social good by educating and empowering young people to make critical decisions that can improve their lives.

  2. Adding youth voice to critical mainstream discourse

  3. Making critical mainstream discourse more accessible to young people

  4. Signal boosting youth-led innovations and ideas especially at the grassroots level
