HI, I’M KRISTEENA
Caribbean feminist, researcher and creative media and development specialist researching social movements, their technological and political contexts and the lived experiences of the activists leading them.
About me
Currently, I am a Ph.D Candidate in the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science researching how Caribbean feminists navigate and address digital, social and political inequalities in their organising. I am also a GTA (Graduate Teaching Assistant) teaching undergrads and masters students across the Media and Sociology departments.
Previously I spent 11 years in media, communication and development producing social impact media and community projects, leading strategic comms on environmental projects at UNEP, and working alongside LBTQ Jamaicans as a feminist organiser.

Abortions are restricted in Jamaica. In the Offences Against the Persons Act (Section 72 and 73 to be exact), a person can be imprisoned for life for getting an abortion and can be imprisoned for up to three years for assisting someone with an abortion.
Watch as Lando and Saint-Saëns bravely share their experiences as trans-masculine people, shining a light on the challenges they face and advocating for sexual and reproductive health rights.
It’s issues like these that activists and collectives that occupy, shape and move through digital space must take into consideration in their ethics. What are the foundations of the spaces we use to build avenues for connection, identity expression, education and mobilisation?
